Here are some interesting facts about this jolly old man that you might not know.
- Santa stretches time like a rubber band, in order to deliver all the gifts in one night. Larry Silverberg, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University, suggests that Santa uses relativity clouds to get the work done. Relativity clouds, based on relative physics, allow Santa to stretch time like a rubber band which gives him months to deliver gifts, while only a few minutes pass for the rest of us.
- Santa hasn’t always dressed in red. In the late 1920s there were many different variations of Santa, sporting a variety of different coloured garments and ranging in size from big to small.
- Santa Claus has different names around the world. Among them are: Kriss Kringle in Germany, Le Befana in Italy, Pere Noel in France and Deushka Moroz (Grandfather Frost) in Russia.
- The figure of Santa Claus is based on St. Nicholas, a real person who lived during the fourth century in Patara, or what is now Turkey. Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.
