Computer Security Day!

of November each year is known as Computer Security Day.  Check out the facts and find out about the most infamous viruses, over the past 25 years.
Computer Security Day was started in 1988 to help raise awareness of computer related security issues.
Keeping your computer safe with an anti-virus and a firewall seems simple enough, right?  But you’d be surprised at just how many computers get infected with viruses each year!
The very first computer virus, “Creeper”, appeared in the 1970s and simply displayed the message: “I’m the creeper, catch me if you can?”
Since then, viruses have grown in size, are more complex, and not all of them are as harmless.

Some TIPS to keep your computer safe!
    • One very important thing to do for your online security is to have strong passwords and keep them updated regularly, as this reduces the chances of your personal data falling into the wrong hands. One strategy is to mix upper and lowercase letters with symbols, as this can be harder to guess and also difficult to hack.
    • Update all of your spyware and malware protection software. Don´t forget your tablets and smartphones.
    • Encrypt all of your files and back them up, and then it’s your choice whether to go for a physical device such as an external hard drive or USB drive or for any of the numerous online cloud storage options.
