Did you know English is extremely important for scouts?
Who is better to tell us that scouting is not just a weekend activity than our very own students? Scouting is a way of life based on adventure, friendship and nature.
The Scouts were formed in 1907 (that means your great-grandmother could have been one!) by a British soldier.
They are divided by groups and areas but within those groups, scouts also have different sub-divisions according to their “adventure level”: the little ones have to wear a yellow uniform and the oldest members wear green.
Because this is a worldwide organisation, with members from all over the world, English is very important so that they can communicate with each other.
How could you go to another country and meet other scouts if you couldn’t speak English? This international language allows them to go camping with scouts from other countries and engage in fun activities in the wild.
